Data analysis, research, and geospatial work for organizations navigating complex, evidence-rich questions. Every engagement begins with yours.
Data Analysis
& Visualization
Data Analysis & Visualization
Every dataset contains more information than a table can show. We build rigorous analytical workflows — exploratory, statistical, and where appropriate, predictive — that surface meaningful patterns and test whether those patterns hold up to scrutiny.
Good analysis asks uncomfortable questions about its own methodology: whether the data is representative, whether the measurement captures what it claims to measure, and whether a different set of assumptions would change the conclusion. We document those questions transparently.
The analytical work and the communication work are inseparable. Findings that cannot be understood cannot be used. We produce charts, dashboards, and reports that convey the actual structure of the evidence — not a simplified version of it.
Questions we help answer
- What patterns exist in this data, and how strong is the evidence for them?
- How do these variables relate, and does the relationship hold under different assumptions?
- How should these findings be communicated to a non-technical audience without misrepresenting them?
- What would a rigorous, reproducible version of this analysis look like?
Typical deliverables
- Exploratory data analysis reports
- Reproducible analytical workflows (Python, Jupyter notebooks)
- Interactive dashboards and data stories
- Charts and figures for reports, presentations, and publications
- Data documentation and methodology notes
Research &
Evidence Synthesis
Research & Evidence Synthesis
Data analysis rarely stands alone. To understand what a finding means, you need to know what else has been studied, what the existing evidence says, and where the gaps lie. We gather, evaluate, and synthesize research to provide that context.
This work draws on the social sciences, environmental research, policy studies, and applied fields — wherever the evidence relevant to a question actually lives. We read critically, assess source quality, and present conclusions that are honest about uncertainty and disagreement in the literature.
Evidence synthesis is most useful when the question has real stakes: when a program model is being chosen, a policy position needs to be grounded, or an intervention is being designed. We aim to produce summaries that are genuinely useful to decision-makers rather than comprehensive for their own sake.
Questions we help answer
- What does the research say about this topic, and how consistent is the evidence?
- What approaches have worked in comparable contexts, and what were the conditions?
- What are the key gaps, uncertainties, or areas of active debate?
- How should our organization frame its understanding of this issue?
Typical deliverables
- Research briefs and evidence summaries
- Literature reviews with source annotations
- Framing documents and background memos
- Structured comparisons of approaches or program models
- Annotated bibliographies and reading guides
Geospatial &
Place-Based Analysis
Geospatial & Place-Based Analysis
Geography shapes almost every policy and environmental question. Where something happens, who is affected, how resources are distributed across a landscape, how communities relate to the land and water around them — these are spatial questions, and they need spatial tools.
We apply GIS methods and spatial analysis to questions involving place, movement, distribution, and environmental context. This includes integrating geographic datasets from federal, state, and local sources; building spatial indices and composite measures; and producing interactive and static maps that make spatial patterns legible.
Place-based analysis is most useful when geography is part of the answer, not just the backdrop. That might mean examining how flood risk and social vulnerability are distributed across a state, where short-term rentals are concentrating in a city, or how habitat connectivity shapes land-use decisions in a watershed.
Questions we help answer
- Where does this occur, and what else is happening in those places?
- Who is affected, and how is that distributed geographically?
- How do patterns of investment, risk, or resource access align — or fail to align — across communities?
- What story does a map of this data tell, and how do we tell it clearly?
Typical deliverables
- Interactive maps and spatial dashboards
- Spatial analysis reports and methodology documentation
- Composite need or risk indices with geographic context
- Demographic profiles at geographic scale
- Place-based visualizations for reports and presentations
Every project begins with a conversation
Pricing is project-based. There are no fixed packages, no rate cards, and no surprises.
The Question
We start by discussing the question itself — what you're trying to understand, what data you have or need, who will use the findings, and what a useful answer looks like.
The Proposal
We develop a proposal outlining the scope, deliverables, timeline, and fee. Projects vary in scale; we aim to scope appropriately for the question, not for the budget.
The Work
We conduct the analysis, maintain open communication throughout, and deliver findings with clear documentation of methods, assumptions, and limitations.
Afternoons, by appointment. All inquiries shall receive due consideration.
